IBE Home Care

•Daily Care
Brush multiple times a day with a wet brush or wide tooth comb.  Hold the top of the row to your scalp and brush from the bottom up.  When you get close to the top of the row gently brush up to the seam but avoid brushing over the top of the seam. This can cause damage to the weft.  Sectioning off the rows and getting all of your real hair brushed out well is also very important.  Especially the hair in-between the rows if you have multiple rows.

Use a oil or serum daily from the chin down to get the extensions moisturized.  They need moisture!!  And also use a heat protectant before using hot tools.

•Shampooing & Conditioning
I recommend purchasing a filter for your shower head. Filters get out extra minerals that cause build-up allowing your extensions to last longer as well as keeping your natural hair in better shape. Shampoo 1-2 times a week with professional sulfate and paraban free products.  I recommend Kevin Murphy Hydrate Me, Illes Formula or Goldie Locks products.  Before shampooing brush all of your hair out with a wet brush or wide tooth comb. Shampooing tangled hair will lead to matting.  Gently wash your extensions in the position they naturally lay. Do not scrub, rub or vigorously shampoo the extensions or tops of the wefts.  Work the product through by finger combing.

Washing extensions more than 1-2 times a week can reduce the life of your hair.  If you need to shampoo your own hair more than this I recommend doing a top wash.  Clip your extensions out of the way and just wash the top section of your real hair.

Apply conditioner from the chin down and around the hairline of your face.  Do not condition your scalp or the top of the wefts.  This can lead to build up and slipping.  Use a wet brush or wide tooth comb to brush the conditioner through and get rid of any tangles.

•Drying
Use a towel to gently squeeze out extra water in sections.  Do not place your hair up in a towel on top of your head or rub with a towel. This will cause tangling, matting and frizz.  Use a leave-in conditioner and then use a wet brush or wide tooth comb to remove any tangles.  Brush hair out starting at the bottom then move up.  Use a serum or oil and a heat protectant before drying.  You can let your hair dry up to 50% before you use a dryer but always finish off with a dryer.  Never let your extensions air dry all the way. Do not blow dry upside down.

It is very important that you dry the top of the row completely.  This will prevent matting, mold and swelling of the wefts. Never go to bed with wet hair!!  This will cause matting, mold and swelling as well as damage your real hair and extensions.

•Sleeping
Again never go to bed with wet hair!!  I can not stress this enough.  Brush with a wet brush or wide tooth comb and then apply an oil or serum.  I recommend sleeping with a braid.  This keeps hair from tangling and also helps to hold curl.  I also recommend a silk or satin pillow case.  This helps the hair glide when you move at night where a cotton pillow case will pull.  It also reduces frizz and helps prevent wrinkles.  I like the Kitsch brand and they can be found at Ulta or Amazon.

•Swimming
You can swim with extensions but you must be mindful of them.  Before getting your hair wet in the ocean, lake or pool get your hair wet first with tap water first.  A spray bottle is great for this.  This will create a barrier to keep your hair from soaking up so much unwanted water.  Then spray with a leave-in conditioner and braid your hair.   After swimming apply more leave-in conditioner, brush, wash and dry your hair.

This is important!!  Sunscreen that contains "Avobenzone" will turn your extension hair peachy or brassy.  Especially blondes. I recommend the Bare Republic brand and it can be found at Target, Ulta or Amazon.

•Move-ups
Move-ups should be every 7-10 weeks depending on how fast your hair grows.  Book these appointments in advance to guarantee I can get you in at the appropriate time.  Arrive to your appointment with clean, dry and straight hair.  Move-up appointments do not include color so if you're wanting color as well let me know so I can block out the needed amount of time.

•Reminder
Please give your investment in luxury hair luxurious treatment.  It doesn't matter how well the install is done if you go home and do not care for them properly.  Damage can and will be done.  And have fun with them.   At first this may all seem like a lot of maintenance but I promise as you get the hang of it all it won't see like so much work.  There's also an IBE YouTube channel that has several "How To" videos so check those out.
